This keynote presentation will provide an overview of the content contained in a new book - Health and Health Care in Northern Canada - University of Toronto Press. Written by individuals who live in and study the region, Health and Health Care in Northern Canada utilizes case studies, interviews, photographs, and more, to highlight the lived experiences of northerners and the primary health issues that they face. This presentation will present analysis of health and health care in northern Canada from a perspective that acknowledges the unique strengths, resilience, and innovation of northerners, while also addressing the challenges aggravated by contemporary manifestations of colonialism.

Rebecca Schiff, Ph.D. - Dr. Rebecca Schiff is Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Sciences at Lakehead University whose work broadly focuses on health, social justice, and sustainability with a particular focus on rural and northern health and health care.
